BF6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun using tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these assignments have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four classes of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of getting a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons found within the game.
Several of these locked weapons might eventually earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
A different forum member highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are toned down in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
Currently, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a less arduous gaming experience in subsequent patches.
